Founder and president, Bill Gross, says Farm Rescue helps farm families suffering from illness, injury, or natural disaster. He started the non-profit back in 2006 helping some neighbors in his home state of North Dakota.
"So I was going to be this random good samaritan and the more people I told about that, they said, Bill you should start a non-profit and create an avenue for people to join in, so that's what I did."
Farm Rescue now works in eight states, including Illinois and Iowa.
With help from volunteers, the non-profit does harvesting, haying, and even feeding livestock. One of the key sponsors since the beginning has been John Deere.

"John Deere has supplied equipment to us, they started sponsoring the equipment first, and then joined in helping us financially with some funding and then even their employees volunteer for Farm Rescue, current employees and retired employees."
Tuesday, in Palestine, Illinois, a dozen volunteers helped Farm Rescue harvest winter wheat. The family asked for help after their home, buildings, and equipment were destroyed by a tornado this spring.
