Today, state Supreme Court Chief Justice, Susan Christensen, announced the appointment of District Court Judge Henry Latham to serve as chief judge in the seventh district. The district includes Cedar, Clinton, Jackson, Muscatine, and Scott counties.
Latham is from Eldridge and was appointed to the bench ten years ago. He graduated from Davenport West High School, Saint Ambrose College, and the University of Iowa College of Law, then had a private practice.
He currently serves as assistant chief judge. His first day as chief judge in the seventh district will be July 10th.

It employs 137 people, twelve district judges, six district associate judges, three senior judges, and 19 part-time magistrates. This year's operating budget is 16 million dollars. Last year, nearly 58,000 cases were filed in the Seventh Judicial District.
