QC Vigil for Sandy Hook Victims and Survivors

A vigil will be held Wednesday night in Davenport to remember the victims and survivors of the Sandy Hook Elementary School shootings. It was ten years ago today that a gunman killed 20 children and six adults staff members in Newtown, Connecticut.

Kaleigh Rogers, from the local chapter of a group called Moms Demand Action, says the national organization was founded as a response to the Sandy Hook shootings. And they try to hold events on the anniversary each year.

They also try to build awareness for their program called "Be Smart" that reminds gun owners to store their firearms safely.

"Most of the shootings on school grounds are committed with firearms from family members or friends and so if we limit the access to those we limit the shootings."

Wednesday night's vigil will be held from 7 to 8 pm at Community of Christ Church in Davenport (4221 North Brady Street).
