Eric Sorensen is running for IL-17 District for Congress.

This week, Democratic candidate for Congress Eric Sorensen campaigned for access to abortion throughout the country.

The meteorologist from Moline is running in Illinois' 17th District. He spoke during a press conference on Tuesday with Governor J B Pritzker.

Sorensen says he disagrees with his opponent, Esther Joy King’s position on abortion.

“Now make no mistake, reproductive care is healthcare. And as your next congressman, I will make sure that women here have the right to make their own healthcare decisions. Now my opponent repeats over and over and over again that she is unapologetically anti-choice.”

And he wants people to help defend abortion rights by voting for him.

“First, I want you to think about your children and grandchildren. They’re the ones that will be asking you, ‘What did you do when your rights were being taken away?’ And the answer you must tell them, ‘We voted and we didn’t sit it out.’”

One of Sorensen's supporters, Ms. Steve Drucker, also spoke at the press conference. She presented a thought experiment on how men might be treated if they were the one’s getting pregnant. (Her portion of the conference is included as the attached audio.)

The election is November 8th.
