A Rock Island native and mechanic at Rock Island Electric Motor Repair, Martens says working full-time helps him understand his constituents better than his oponents. And if elected, Martens would focus on voting security and cutting taxes.
"Fixing the election problems that we had in 2020, I want to also make Illinois more competitive with surrounding states by lowering our property taxes and gas taxes, so we can compete because we're losing businesses and people really bad."
Martens says if Illinois doesn't cut spending it will become bankrupt. Because of this, he believes a change of leadership is needed in Illinois.
"The Democratic party has adopted Socialism as their main party platform. Socialism is communism with lipstick on it. They've instituted critical race theory, 1619 project, intersectionalism, and pornographic childrens books in our schools. We have to fix that."
His democratic opponent for the Illinois House, 72nd District, is Gregg Johnson.
