Director of Sports and Growth at Visit QC, Joan Kranovich, says that the money will help bring traffic and softball back to Iowa, and the QCA.
"About 14 years ago, there was a great ASA presence and that's gone away so we are trying to rebuild softball, and bring new softball teams, especially when you look at girls in sports." says Kranovich.
The ASA is the Amateur Softball Association, also know as Softball USA.
Kranovich says the money will be used for video, email, direct, and web marketing.
The tournament next year should have a large financial impact.
"They were able to award 13,000 because they can only do 50% of your marketing budget. We expect the event is going to drive $77,000 of direct impact in our community."
She says, the QC sports commission hopes to continue to attract more youth, amateur, and minor league sports to the area.
