Ride the River & Ride and Seek

Are you in need of some fun outside activities this summer? Well River Action has the answer for you. We are hosting a month-long scavenger hunt along the Quad Cities bike trails and bringing back Ride the River which will be held on Father’s Day on 19th of June. Thanks to bikes, adventure is waiting on the riverfront trails. Bikes will take you to places cars will never see! Ride and Seek and Ride the River —Bridging Cultures Building Communities is a ride of discovery and connection in 2022.

Ride and Seek is a month-long scavenger hunt with 30 clues all along the riverfront. You have the entire month of June to find the answers to these clues. This year our clues add an additional challenge as they are all limericks. Here is our opening Limerick to get a taste:

You will need a bridge to traverse

Our Cities, which are quite diverse.

We’ll give you the clues,

A map you can use, all wrapped up in limerick verse.

Alright now that you are in the limerick mindset, lets try out one of our clues:

Sunset has rivers on two sides,

A park and a harbor that provides,

Pleasure for boaters

And Floatzilla floaters.

Plus, also, Great River Trail rides.

How many miles from Sunset Park to Palisades Park?

Do you think you know where you can find the answer to this clue?

Once you figure out where it is, hop on your bike with your clue sheet to find the answer.

You will write the answer on the map and clue sheet that is provided in your registration packet. Your registration packet will also include a bike bell for each child registered, a Lagomarcino coupon, and sidewalk chalk to write positive messages along the route and some tips and tricks for the event. After you have solved all the clues, send in your clue sheet to River Action or fill out our online answer form at riveraction.org/rideandseek to be entered into a drawing to win some awesome prizes.

Ride the River on June 19th is a bi-state tour of the Quad Cities along riverfront bike trails. The route will be open from 7am to 3:30pm. You can plan what route you want to take using the map provided. We have two fun ways you can cross the river. One is to board the Celebration Belle at Leach Park and get off on the Moline RiverFront at either 9 or 10am or take the Arsenal Bridge and explore the island. Along the route we will have music and food trucks. Children participants will receive a free I heart my bike bell.

You do not want to miss out on these fun family events! Sign up to experience the riverfront in two fun ways. Go to riveraction.org/ridetheriver for more information and to sign up. You can sign up for one or both events. Good luck, happy clue hunting, family fun, and bike riding!
