Ferris Wheel Under Construction
One year behind schedule, construction is finally underway for the Quad Cities' newest landmark. A crew has started building the new ferris wheel at Modern Woodmen Park in downtown Davenport.
When it's finished the ferris wheel will tower 110 feet above the playing field, with 20 open-air gondolas, and just outside of the left field wall.
Main Street Baseball, the owner of the River Bandits, had hoped to build the new attraction last spring, but the project was postponed by several floods. Instead, last fall, the site was built up so it's above possible flood levels, then workers poured the foundation.
