Sheley Verdict

For the second time, Nicholas Sheley has been convicted of murder. This afternoon, a jury in Whiteside County found him guilty of the June 2008 death of 93 year old Russell Reed of Sterling.
The Sterling Daily Gazette reports the jury in Morrison took less than three hours today to convict Sheley.
Prosecutors said he was desperate for money to buy cocaine when he killed Reed.
He was sentenced to life in prison last year for the death of 65-year-old Ronald Randall of Galesburg, and faces another life sentence for killing Reed
In all, Sheley is suspected of killing eight people in Illinois and Missouri in 2008.
