A non-profit youth organization has found a new home in downtown Moline.

Junior Achievement of the Heartland, or JA, will open its new "inspiration center" in October. It will be located in the same building as the Vibrant Credit Union on 44th street.

Dougal Nelson is the organization's CEO and president.

"The JA center will provide a vital space of learning, discovery and empowerment," Nelson said. "Housing its capstone program, BizTown and Finance Park, where over 8,000 fourth through nineth graders will attend."

JA has been located in Davenport for over 25 years and teaches Quad Cities students about financial literacy, career readiness, and entrepreneurship.

"The JA curriculum provides students with simulations that really recreate our economic environment like right here in Moline," Nelson said. "It remains the only facility in our area where kids get to experience the roles and responsibilities of adulthood."

Nelson says JA has invested over 3 million dollars into its new Moline center and has already raised over 75% of the neccesary funding.
