Today, 51-year-old Henry Dinkins of Davenport was set to go on trial in Cedar Rapids for killing a Davenport girl.

But the Quad-City Times reports Dinkins opted for a bench trial instead. That means the case will be decided by a judge, not a jury, and it will be held in Scott County.

Three years ago, 10-year-old Breasia Terrell was reported missing, and her body was found eight months later near DeWitt.

In 2021, Dinkins was charged with first-degree murder and kidnapping.

Today, jury selection was scheduled to begin in Linn County. Now that it's a bench trial, it'll be held in Scott County starting Thursday.
