Businesses located in The Davenport will have to find new places to do business.

After being closed for more than two weeks, the Downtown Davenport Partnership says the city is now allowing restaurants, bars, retail shops, and others to reopen.

Executive Director, Kyle Carter, says 18 businesses have been closed due to the collapse, including three located on the first floor of the building. Fourth Street Nutrition, Envied Vintage Clothing, and Mockingbird on Main need new places to do business.

"We have been shopping around already, looking for other spaces that might be a good fit for them downtown. We will hopefully have our grant dollars out the door within two weeks here to said businesses, and we can really start that process."

Carter says the entire downtown has taken a hit because of closed streets and an overall decrease in traffic. "Go to a restaurant downtown this weekend. Go to your favorite retailer. If you know somebody who lives down here, check on them and see how they're feeling. I mean, it's just the whole family and the whole neighborhood could use some TLC and a hug. And so we just want to make sure that while the 18 businesses that closed had the most financial distress there, still a lot of other people's families and businesses could use the help."

The partnership has set aside 100-thousand dollars for grants to downtown Davenport businesses impacted by the collapse. Funds are also available through the city, Small Business Administration, and Quad Cities Community Foundation.
