The 40,000 square foot building houses three basketball courts and an indoor track. And the project is the replacement of the entire floor.
Athletic Director Mike Zapolski is excited about the upgrade since he's been pushing it for a long time.
"For all intent and purposes, it's gonna be a replication of the existing space, with obviously an upgraded floor with all the new technologies that have come a long way since the original floor was installed in the 1990s."
In addition to Pepsi-Co, the turf on Thorson-Lucken Field will also be replaced. All of Augustana's soccer and lacrosse teams use the field, along with club and intramural teams.
Zapolski says the project will cost around one million dollars.
"President Bahls met with myself and several of the Cabinet members earlier in the semester, and indicated that there were some dollars available to do some specific renovations that have been on the docket for quite some time."
Coaches have measured parts of the Pepsi-Co Center to see if a pole-vaulting pit can be added to allow for winter practices.
The work will begin late during the spring semester, and the project is expected to be completed at the beginning of summer.
