If you just can't wait until July to hear live, traditional jazz music, you should travel to southeast Wisconsin this weekend. The 28th annual Tribute to Bix Beiderbecke is being held Thursday through Sunday.

For the 45th year, musicians and fans from across the country and around the world will gather in the Quad Cities to honor Bix Beiderbecke. The jazz legend was born in Davenport, and the four-day festival in his honor opens Thursday night.

Josh Duffee is president and music director for the Bix Beiderbecke Memorial Society, and will play with several bands during the festival, that'll feature music from the 1920's and 30's.

The Bix Beiderbecke Memorial Society is hosting the event, which will include live performances and free cake.

Bix Society president Josh Duffee says the bash is a great way to honor a local legend. Plans are also underway to open the Bix Beiderbecke Museum and Archive Center at the River Music Experience in Davenport.
