Rocky Bobblehead Unveiled

The mascot of Western Illinois University is now an officially licensed and limited edition bobblehead. The likeness of Colonel Rock IV was produced by the National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum, in time for Friday which is National Bobblehead Day.

The Rocky bobblehead sits on a base bearing his name and the Leathernecks logo, and wearing his official "W" jersey. A portion of the proceeds from the bobblehead sales will support WIU's live mascot program.

The first Rocky was a 10-week-old puppy in 2010 when he became WIU's first official four-legged mascot since the 1970s. He officially retired in summer of 2019. WIU alumni Joe Roselieb, executive director of auxiliary services and risk management, and Ketra Roselieb, executive director of financial affairs, house and train (and chauffeur) Ray, who will turn four in February. The Roseliebs were also the caretakers for Rocky, who passed away in January, 2021, just shy of his 11th birthday.
