Semi-trailer and train collide in rural Scott County

The Scott County Sheriff’s Office says a semi-tractor-trailer carrying liquid asphalt failed to proceed properly through a stop sign and collided with a train.

No injuries were reported from the crash at 18300 block 110th Avenue in rural Scott County.

The train struck the rear part of the trailer, causing the liquid asphalt to spill onto the road, tracks, and ditch. The release says cleanup is underway, and the material is not harmful.

The semi-driver was cited for a stop sign violation over railroad tracks.
