Kraft-Heinz plant evacuated due to ammonia leak

Workers at the Kraft-Heinz plant on Slopertown Rd in north Davenport evacuated the building this morning, Thursday, Oct. 10th, after discovering an industrial leak.

In a news release, Davenport Fire Marshall Jim Morris says an ammonia leak was detected at the site. The cause was an internal cooling system break. The release states the area has been properly ventilated.

Air monitoring equipment set up around the factory confirms that the leak is not causing any additional problems outside of the plant.

Employees are expected to return to work this evening.
