Whiteside County Sheriff John Booker with new Chief Deputy Jeff VenHuizen

Former Rock Island Police Chief Jeff VenHuizen has found a new job. Following his retirement last fall, he's been appointed Chief Deputy for the Whiteside County Sheriff's Office.

In his announcement, Sheriff John Booker says VenHuizen is familiar with the county because he grew up in rural Erie.

He was employed by the Rock island Police Department for a total of 28 years, including eight as chief.
