Scott County is reporting its first outbreak of COVID-19 at a nursing home.

The county health department says the 14 cases are among residents and staff of Iowa Masonic Health Facilities in Bettendorf.

Ed Rivers, Director of the Scott County Health Department, says an outbreak is defined as three or more cases of coronavirus in one long term care center.

Iowa Masonic has notified residents and family members about the outbreak and is working with the health department to protect residents and staff at the 79-bed facility. No COVID-19 deaths have been reported in association with the Bettendorf Iowa Masonic care center.

The Iowa Department of Public Health coronavirus website shows 21 outbreaks at long term care centers throughout the state, with 440 deaths and 146 recoveries.
