The Illinois Arts Council is opening applications for its Creative Accelerator Fund. The new fund is a part of IAC’s Bold New Changes which will help support artists and a creative work environment.
Jackie Banks-Mahlum, director for programs at the Illinois Arts Council, says the new fund will improve art in Illinois. “I think it's going to be a critical investment in our individual artists. This is a new program. We haven't been able to invest in artists like this across the state before. And we're really excited to have this opportunity and to see what our artists across the state can do with this kind of critical investment.”
130 artists will be randomly selected and awarded $10,000 taxable dollars to invest in their practice and professional growth. To be eligible, applicants must be 21, Illinois residents and not enrolled in any full-time undergraduate, graduate, or doctorate program. Applications are due Wednesday, November 20th at 11:59 p.m. Recipients will be announced in early 2025.
