The Cancer Support Community Iowa and North West Illinois at Gilda’s Club is holding its annual Diamonds & Divas ladies night out event. The event will be taking place at the Waterfront Convention Center on Thursday, October 3rd at 6 p.m.

The Diamonds & Divas event is full of fun and entertainment. There will be a silent auction, Fund-A-Need activity, hor d'oeuvres, and entertainment from comedian Kelly MacFarland. Attendees will also be able to sponsor a “chemo bag” for patients undergoing chemotherapy treatment, along with other activities.

“Our goal this year is to raise $80,000,” said Lexi Bull, the Communication and Events Manager at Cancer Support Community. “Last year we were able to raise $77,000, so we are hoping to surpass that goal tonight.”

All proceeds from this event will go toward local no-cost cancer support for anyone in the Quad Cities area affected by any type of cancer.

“Last year we had 637 programs,” said Bull. “We had offered over 100 more programs than we did the year prior, and we are on track again to kind of see that growth. We’ve had more demand for services, and the funding will help sustain these programs we offer at no cost.”

Tickets were priced at $70 per person, or $520 for a group of 8, and $650 for a group of 10. This event is essential to help further the support that the Cancer Support Community at Gilda’s Club can give to the community. This event is not just a fundraiser, but an event fostered in support, fun, and community.

“We’re just seeing so much growth in our community that we just need help sustaining,” said Bull. “We know it takes a community to help do what we do.”
