Statewide: Protests In Towns Big And Small

The recent marches and rallies for racial justice have taken place in major cities like Chicago and St. Louis. 

But they've also happened in communities notorious for lacking tolerance, including former "sundown towns" that put restrictions on African Americans.

We'll hear how one of those locations - Anna, Illinois - gained that reputation and how recent events have given reasons for optimism.

* A conversation with Southern Illinoisan reporter Molly Parker about racial justice protests in her area, including in predominantly white communities. 

*  Rich Egger of TriStates Public Radio reports from Macomb. He tells how protests got started in that city.

* Christine Herman of Side Effects Public Media explains dental offices are reopening, but employees still have concerns about coronavirus exposure.

* Lee Gaines of Illinois Newsroom talks with Brian Moline about what it's like to be tested for COVID-19.

* Kate McGee of WBEZ introduces us to some students who are the first in their families to graduate college and how they felt when graduation ceremonies were canceled.

* WNIJ's Peter Medlin reports on the police-free movement and how it could impact school resource officers.
