Rockridge School District Wants to Recover Stolen Money

Rockridge School District

The Rockridge School District plans to file suit against a former employee who stole thousands of dollars.

Angela Strong resigned in August of last year after admitting to embezzling money for her personal use for two years. She returned 8,000 dollars to the school district, but auditors say she owes an additional 7,100 dollars.

When the additional missing money was discovered, Rockridge officials contacted the Rock Island County Sheriff. Former States Attorney John McGehee said he would be prosecuting Strong, but before that could happen, he was appointed a judge.

The school district says it has unsuccesfully tried to contact Interim States Attorney Dora Villareal, so the board of education is going to try to recover the money in civil court.
