Another Snowstorm Is in the Forecast

Quad Cities National Weather Service

Get ready for another round of winter weather. We're expecting snow in parts of eastern Iowa and far northwestern Illinois by late this afternoon. Then tonight and Friday, the snowfall will become heavy at times.

The National Weather Service in the Quad Cities says the heaviest snow, 4 to 8 inches, is expected along and north of a line from Iowa City to Davenport to Princeton, Illinois. That's where a Winter Storm Warning will be in effect from 6:00 P.M. through 6:00 P.M. Friday.

Counties in the warning area include Dubuque, Jones, Jackson, Johnson, Cedar, Clinton, Muscatine, and Scott in Iowa, plus Jo Daviess, Carroll, Whiteside, Rock Island, Henry, and Bureau counties in Illinois.

A Winter Snow Advisory will be in effect along a line from Sigourney to Aledo where 2 to 5 inches of snow could fall. It's also from 6:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M. Friday and includes Washington, Louisa, and Mercer counties. Note: This afternoon, Des Moines, Henry (IA), Henderson, Warren, and Knox counties were added to the advisory area. The farther north, the more snowfall is possible.

Areas farther south may get some very light snow late tonight. Then tomorrow, forecasters say the Galesburg area could get up to three inches of snow.

Davenport has declared a snow emergency from today at 5 pm through Saturday at 7 am. Don’t park on posted snow routes unless you want to get a ticket or have your car towed. The best way to avoid that is to park off-street.

In Coal Valley, a snow emergency will be in effect at 5 pm today through Monday (2/12) at noon. All village streets are included, and vehicles not moved off-street will be ticketed and towed.
