It's Columbus Day, which means Quad Cities residents may find some government offices open while others are closed. People who work for the federal and Illinois governments will be off today. That's because "Columbus sailed the ocean blue back in 1492." So, U.S. and Illinois offices will be closed. But Iowa offices will be open along with district courts.
Rock Island and most city halls will be open, but Rock Island County and its courts will be closed. Schools will hold classes as usual, except for the Rock Island district which is on its fall intersession. The Post Office will also be closed, and no mail will be delivered.
