Local motorists should prepare for another traffic headache. Repairs on the railroad tracks on the upper level of Government Bridge will require the bridge to be closed at various times through the middle of next month (sept).
Beginning Wednesday, drivers can expect intermittent single lane closures for cars, but no impact for pedestrians and bikes.
Then this weekend (8/13-14), Saturday and Sunday, and two more weekends, Government Bridge will be closed to vehicle traffic from 6 am to 6 pm. But again bike riders and pedestrians will be able to cross.
Next month though, the bridge will be completely closed to all traffic for one day - on Wednesday September 14th.
