Davenport Airport Plans for Several Projects

Davenport Municipal Airport

After four years of renovations, the airport in Davenport is planning for a lot more work. This week, the Davenport Municipal Airport received a $450,000 federal grant to start fixing the main runway.

Airport Manager, Tom Vesalga, says over the past four years, the airport replaced 65-year-old pavement and added space for its new tenant, Heart of America. This year, the airport will spend the grant on designing a new, primary runway.

Vesalga hopes the changes will attract more tenants.
He says construction on the new main runway should begin next year.

Vesalga also wants to extend the runway, and add 300 more acres to the airport. And, the Davenport Municipal Airport plans to improve its taxi-ways and expand ramp areas.

Currently, an Environmental Assessment is being conducted at the airport. Residents can read the draft online and attend a public meeting next month.
