IL and IA Early Voting Begins Thursday

Credit Scott County

Thursday morning  is the first chance for residents of Iowa and Illinois to vote this fall. The early voting period runs through November 7th.

Starting at 8 am, Rock Island County residents can cast ballots at the County Clerk's Office, and Scott County residents can vote at the Auditor's Office.

Scott County Auditor, Roxanna Mortiz, says there are plenty of benefits for people who vote early.
She says in the last presidential election, 43,000 Scott County residents voted early-- about half of the turn-out for the whole election. And so far this year, 8,000 people have already requested absentee ballots.

Starting October 17th, additional early voting locations will be open in both Scott and Rock Island counties.

The Scott County Auditor's Office and the Rock Island County Clerk's Office will be open for early voting 8 am to 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday.

And Thursday at 5:30 pm, Iowa Secretary of State Paul Pate will hold an Early Vote Rally, at the Scott County GOP Headquarters, on Utica Ridge Road in Davenport.
