Lifelong Rock Island resident Mike Thoms announced Tuesday he's running for mayor.
Thoms graduated from Rock Island High school and attended Blackhawk College. Then he worked his way up through the family business to eventually become COO of ThomsProestler Performance Foodservice Company.

"We brought a family business from Iowa, into Rock Island, Ill. In '93, we moved over and grew from there, so businesses can grow in the city of Rock Island and in Illinois."
The municipal election will be April 4, 2017. Rock Island Mayor Dennis Pauley is currently serving his second term, which ends May 6, 2017.
