Former IA Gov. Chet Culver to Discuss Medicaid Plan

If Governor Terry Branstad's Medicaid plan passes, more than 500,000 Iowans would switch to private care. That's why former governor Chet Culver is visiting Davenport tomorrow to discuss the impact of the proposed plan.

Liz Sherwin, from the Illinois-Iowa Center for Independent Living, says Culver and other state and local leaders believe Medicaid privatization will not work.

The governor's proposed plan would affect 560,000 Iowans, including 120,000 people with disabilities.

The federal Medicaid agency, CMS, sent the plan back to the state for revision in December, but Sherwin says more revisions are necessary.
