East Moline City Council to Vote on Sewer Rate Increase

The cost of sewer service in East Moline may go up next year. Tonight, the city council will consider raising sewer rates by 20 cents from the current $1.75 per 100 cubic feet to $1.95.

City Administrator Cole O'Donnell says the increase is needed mainly because of rising costs for the city.

Sewer and water services are included in one monthly bill, and East Moline water rates are already due to increase next year. The average East Moline resident now pays just over $113 per month for water and sewer service, but if the city council passes the sewer rate increase tonight, the monthly bill will go up $11.60.

The East Moline City Council meeting begins as 6:30 pm.
