A new superintendent will be able to lead the Davenport schools this year after all. Thursday state officials ended months of uncertainty and approved the appointment of Doctor Robert Kobylski.
He comes to the Quad Cities from the Milwaukee area where he was superintendent of two districts.
Kobylski was hired back in February, but then state officials said he did not have the correct certifications to work in Iowa. He enrolled in some courses and finally won permission from the Iowa Board of Educational Examiners.
He'll start work immediately, less than a month before the new school year begins, and replace T.J. Schneckloth who's served as interim superintendent since last November when Art Tate resigned.
