New Davenport Superintendent

Nicolet High School

A school superintendent from the Milwaukee area will be the next superintendent of the Davenport schools. Thursday the board of education announced the hiring of Robert Kobylski.

Currently Doctor Kobylski serves as superintendent of the Fox Point Bayside Grade School District in Fox Point, Wisconsin and superintendent for Nicolet High School in Glendale, Wisconsin.

He was one of three finalists selected after a nationwide search, and will replace Art Tate who resigned in October, and the current interim superintendent, T.J. Schneckloth.

Kobylski will begin his new job in Davenport on June 1st.

He is the third new superintendent hired by a Quad Cities school district in recent months, following new hires by the Rock Island and Moline districts. And the second to come from Milwaukee - Rock Island's new superintendent, Reginald Lawrence, is a regional superintendent for that city's schools

A native of Detroit, Herb Trix began his radio career as a country-western disc jockey in Roswell, New Mexico (“KRSY, your superkicker in the Pecos Valley”), in 1978. After a stint at an oldies station in Topeka, Kansas (imagine getting paid to play “Louie Louie” and “Great Balls of Fire”), he wormed his way into news, first in Topeka, and then in Freeport Illinois.
