Letendre Retiring

Alleman HIgh School

A long career in education, 41 years, is about to end. Tonight Alleman High School in Rock Island will host an open house to honor principal, Colin Letendre, who's retiring at the end of the month.

Letendre lists many achievement during his 23 years as principal, including building a new theater and athletic fields, multiple renovations to the school, and numerous academic awards and athletic championships.
Following one year teaching at a school in rural Maine, and 15 years teaching english at Moline High School, Letendre switched to administration - first as principal for two years at Routt Catholic in Jacksonville, Illinois then to Alleman in 1992.

Attended Catholic school when I was young, something about it appeals to me.

His replacement, as of July lst, will be assistant principal, David Hobin.

Among Letendre's goals for retirement, the native of New England would like to spend more time rooting for the Boston Celtics, and attend his high school reunion for the first time ever.

A native of Detroit, Herb Trix began his radio career as a country-western disc jockey in Roswell, New Mexico (“KRSY, your superkicker in the Pecos Valley”), in 1978. After a stint at an oldies station in Topeka, Kansas (imagine getting paid to play “Louie Louie” and “Great Balls of Fire”), he wormed his way into news, first in Topeka, and then in Freeport Illinois.
