Major improvements to the athletic facilities at Bettendorf High School have just been completed. And the school district will hold an open house tonight to show them off.
The district spent 3.2 million dollars for upgrades at Touvelle Stadium, including new synthetic turf, track, lighting, and ticket booth, plus renovations to the home-side concession area and rest rooms.
The stadium is named for Alwyn Touvelle who served as team physician for 25 years, and it includes Habenicht Field - honoring Merv Habenicht who served as Bettendorf head football coach from 1971 to 1999.

Money for the upgrades came from the school district's Physical Plant and Equipment Levy, and proceeds from the local option sales tax for schools.
