Rock Island is attracting more business, and a handful of new deals should create 200 jobs.
At tonight's city council meeting, aldermen will consider five development agreements worth millions of dollars.
Mayor Mike Thoms says Canada-based Agri-solutions finds Rock Island attractive, in part, because of its central location in the US.
The company plans to buy the Coca-cola building and consolidate several operations in Rock Island.
Thoms says the Rockridge School Board will also consider a development deal in January for that project. But it does not involve tax increment financing.
The other agreements include Green Thumb Industries, which plans to expand its marijuana-growing operation in the Southwest Rock Island Business Park.
Ecogistics plans to build a new facility behind the 11th Street McDonalds, then move out of is current building in Rock Island.
Ms. BriMani's Hair and Beauty Supply has out-grown its shop on 11th Street and 7th Avenue. The owner plans to move into a downtown building and expand services.
And finally, the Koffee Break and Q-C Pancake House plans to expand, adding more seating. It's located downtown, across the street from Circa 21.
