After nearly closing a couple of years ago, the Quad City Mallards continue to get stronger.
Director of Communications and Broadcasting, Brian Lavelle, says during the just completed season attendance at weekend games jumped 25 per cent over last year. Group ticket sales were up by half, and season ticket sales have doubled in recent years.
He also thinks moving from the Central Hockey League to the ECHL last fall was a good move for the Mallards because it's the top double-A league in North America.
Following the Mallards' loss in the first round of the playoffs, team staff will get a brief rest and then begin working on promotions and ticket sales for next season. And coach Terry Ruskowski is already working on recruiting players.
The new ECHL season starts in October.
