Cambridge Wins Revitalization Grant

Cambridge has won a grant to revitalize the community. The Community Heart and Soul Seed Grant program has awarded $10,000, to be matched by the village.

Mike Wignall, Coordinator of the Cambridge Heart and Soul Project, says it's up to the local residents to decide how best to spend the money.

"A hope that every segment, every portion of the population--no matter where they live, where they work, no matter what they do--we hope to get everyone represented, and then get together and see what the people want, and what we can do for the people."

The Community Heart and Soul Seed Grant Program will provide someone to help Cambridge residents organize their committees and decide how to spend the money.

The next meeting for the program is set for Monday, August 23rd at 5:30 PM at First United Methodist Church in Cambridge.

A native of Detroit, Herb Trix began his radio career as a country-western disc jockey in Roswell, New Mexico (“KRSY, your superkicker in the Pecos Valley”), in 1978. After a stint at an oldies station in Topeka, Kansas (imagine getting paid to play “Louie Louie” and “Great Balls of Fire”), he wormed his way into news, first in Topeka, and then in Freeport Illinois.
Aaryan Balu first set foot in audio journalism at WTJU Charlottesville and WRIR Richmond, and now works as WVIK Quad Cities NPR's Fellowship Host.
