A local meteorologist says the Quad Cities got mostly sleet this morning, but freezing rain has been falling in Burlington and parts of northwestern Illinois.
Alex Gibbs, from the National Weather Service in Davenport, says a-quarter inch of ice is causing slick roads and sidewalks from Burlington up to Sterling. Drivers in the Quad Cities can get more traction in the sleet and freezing rain.
Gibbs says a strong storm in Texas is moving north, causing our winter weather. The precipitation is forecast to change to snow. We can expect a couple inches in the Quad Cities from the back end of the storm. But Dubuque could get up to six inches of snow.
