RDA Fall Grants
A major grant will support the Quad City Symphony Orchestra through 2018. Monday the Riverboat Development Authority handed out its fall grants, including 30,000 dollars a year for three years for the symphony's Masterworks concerts.
The RDA owns the license for the Rhythm City casino, and distributes a share of the casino's revenue each year to non-profit, civic, and government organizations.
The 52 new grants total 854,000 dollars - for economic development, human services, and arts, culture, and education.
Other major grants announced Monday include 35,000 dollars for Bethany for Children and Families, and 20,000 to Big Brothers-Big Sisters for its Youth Career and Employment Initiative.
WVIK will receive 25,000 for Challengers Circle incentive funding - the money is used to match pledges from local listeners, which in turn helps the station leverage grants from state and federal governments.
