Muscatine Takes on Five New City Projects

City of Muscatine

Muscatine is in the running to receive a state grant that would help pay for five new projects. Tomorrow, city officials will ask the Vision Iowa Board for up to 2 million dollars, from the Community Attraction and Tourism program.
Muscatine Community Development Director, Dave Gobin, says the projects include four new soccer fields.
The other projects are a new dog park, improvements to the art museum, improvements to Deep Lakes Park, and extending the city's recreation trails. But even if the state helps, he says Muscatine will still need to raise about 10-million-dollars.
Gobin says the decision on the state grant could be made in a couple of months. So, work on the projects could start later this year.
