Brown Bag Book Club
Brown Bag Book Club is a traditional, casual-atmosphere discussion group that takes place during a late-lunch hour. Books are recently published adult fiction and nonfiction titles, as well as the occasional classic or backlist novel. It meets on the 4th Wednesday of the month at 1:00 pm at the Eastern Branch. Books can be signed out from the Eastern Branch on a first-come, first-serve basis.
In September we will read: Black Cake by Charmaine Wilkerson (2022) — Estranged siblings Byron and Benny who, after their mother's death, discover a hidden past through a voice recording and a traditional Caribbean black cake, revealing secrets, betrayals, and a journey through the Caribbean, London, and California that forces them to confront their family's history and their own identities.
