Polls will be open in Scott County, and across Iowa Tuesday, for the combined city and school elections. For the first time, board of education candidates will be on the same ballot with mayors, city councils, and park boards - previously school board elections were held separately, in September.
The races getting the most attention are in Davenport. Two members of the city council are hoping to be elected mayor - Rita Rawson and Mike Matson, and there are races in six of the eight wards.
There are 14 candidates running for just four seats on the Davenport school board, including two incumbents. Six names are on the ballot for four seats on the Bettendorf school board, including two incumbents.
Residents of the North Scott district will also choose four members of their school board - there are six candidates, including the four incumbents.
Polls in Iowa will be open on Tuesday from 7 am until 8 pm.
