Quad Cities music entrepreneur Sean Moeller is putting the finishing touches on his next music venue: The Rust Belt. Scheduled to open February 2019 in East Moline, the space will hold up to 4,000 concertgoers. Moeller plans to showcase a variety of high-profile bands, filling a void in the current Quad Cities music scene.

East Moline is enjoying a renaissance, with The Rust Belt arising in a former industrial space off 12th Avenue not far from the Mississippi River. It will house a brewery, coffee house, restaurant, architectural design showroom, and more. It is strategically located close to The Bend, the home of the new Hyatt House/Hyatt Place hotel, where new residential housing, greenspace, and retail space is also planned.
Listen to our conversation here with Sean Moeller about where he gets his inspiration, how music enhances our lives, and why "creative placemaking"—the idea that artistic and cultural activities strengthen a community and can bring real economic change—is so important.
Tickets can be purchased here. The Rust Belt will be located at 1201 7th St., East Moline.
