Artists of all ages will show off their work in a new exhibit this weekend, and help welcome a world-famous musician to Dubuque. On Sunday, Gallery C will host an opening reception for "The Color of Music," celebrating this year's artist in residence.
Gallery Director, Paula Neuhaus, says next month, the Dubuque Symphony Orchestra will bring violinist, Midori, to Dubuque. During her week-long visit, she'll perform Tchaikovsky's Violin Concerto.
To preview the event, the orchestra and Dubuque Museum of Art asked local residents to submit art work inspired by the concerto.
Neuhaus says it's the first time the Dubuque Symphony Orchestra, Museum of Art, and Gallery C have worked together on a community art exhibit.
"The Color of Music" exhibit opens Sunday with a reception from 1 to 3 pm at Gallery C, located in the Schmid Innovation Center in Dubuque. The exhibit will run through May 1st.
Midori came to the Quad Cities for a similar week-long residence in 2011.
