"Be a Santa to a Senior" Returns to the Quad Cities

Ada Christopher is the owner of Home Instead, a home care service which runs the "Be a Santa to a Senior" program.

"We deliver the gifts to the seniors, and I mean just to see the smile on their face, and to see them so excited to receive socks or shampoo. I mean, it's just so amazing to touch their lives."

Members of Home Instead write gift ideas on ornaments labeled with the names of senior citizens. Then they hang the ornaments on their Christmas trees in Bettendorf and Moline.

Community members can stop by the trees to pick out some of these ornaments.

"There's families who do this with their kids. They come and the kids select the balls they want, and then they return the gifts to our office. So it's just lots of opportunities to make a difference."

Gifts have already been purchased for Quad Cities seniors this year, but Christopher says you can reach out to other Home Instead locations in the state, or donate directly to the Home Instead Foundation, which helps seniors across the country.
