Percussionist James Culver has lived in Germany since 2002 but grew up in Kewanee, IL, utilizing his master’s degree in Education-Human Resources/Development as a communication and intercultural skills trainer. A truly multifaceted individual, he has returned to the Quad Cities to headline Sunday’s performance with his band James Culver & the Kuchina Jazz Collective.

Listen to our conversation here about the duality between his professional and musical careers, the innate ability of music and dance to facilitate communication, and the evolution of Latin Jazz from both African and Cuban rhythms and percussion instruments.

All performances are free of charge. Stop by and join the celebration!
