Branding Research for the QCCVB

Local residents and tourists agree, there are a lot of good reasons to visit the Quad Cities. That's one of the findings from research done for the Quad Cities Convention and Visitors Bureau as it works to update its efforts to promote this area.

Bureau president and ceo, Joe Taylor, says Mindfire Communications of LeClaire first surveyed local residents - and they believe there are two main reasons to visit the Quad Cities - the Mississippi River, and our long list of festivals and special events.

"We're seen as an affordable, family-friendly place where you'll be welcomed with Midwestern hospitality. They also felt there's a lot to see and do here and that there's something for everyone. They say they're overwhelmingly likely to recommend the Quad Cities area as a place to visit."

A survey of tourists shows they have a similar view of the Quad Cities, and they also like our casinos, central location, and that it's easy to get around here.

"Couples are most likely to visit and families seeking affordable meals, accomodations, and activities for children and teens. And those who want to get away from the big city and enjoy an easy relaxing area with a variety of things to see and do."

So now that the research is done, Taylor says the Convention and Visitors Bureau will begin working on what he calls "brand development," including logos, slogans, and advertising to be used in the coming years.
