The National Weather Service says the rest of the week looks beautiful for the middle of July.

Meteorologist Tim Gross of the National Weather Service in the Quad Cities says four of the seven tornados were EF-1 with notable damage in Davenport, Taylor Ridge towards Andover, Illinois, and two tornados in the Kewanee area.

"Widespread damage, wind swaths, approximately 70-mile hour wind gusts or greater occurred along HWY 20 corridor east of Waterloo towards Dubuque, towards Freeport... there was extensive tree damage and powerlines down and so forth."

He says similar damage was in the Quad Cities southeast towards Kewanee and Lacon.

"For this time of year we do receive derechos, typically one or two every two years. It's normal this time of year to have significant wind events during the months of June, July and August. This is what occurred on the 15th."

Gross says the NWS Quad Cities had a few trees down but no damage to station equipment.

He says dry conditions this weekend and slight chances of rain southwest of the Quad Cities early next week.

"Maybe one or two isolated showers or storms potential, but as far as any severe risk or heavy rain risk or even heat, it's looking like a really great weekend going into next week."

Residents affected by the storms can contact the American Red Cross for shelter and supplies at 1-800-733-2767.
