Matson & Croken Advance to Davenport's General Election

During Tuesday's primary, voters in Davenport pared down the list of candidates whose names will be on the ballot next month. Here are the unofficial results from the Scott County Auditor's Office.

In the mayor's race, the two at the top are current Mayor Mike Matson with 1,774 votes and State Representative, Ken Croken, with 1,422.

The 2nd Ward ballot will feature Tim Dunn who got Tim Dunn 201 votes and Judith Lee with 158 votes.

In the crowded 3rd Ward, Marion Meginnis received 289 votes, while Paul Vasquez received 59. They'll advance to the general election from a field of five candidates.

Jade Burkholder and Robby Ortiz will be on the ballot in Davenport's 4th Ward race after receiving 182 and 174 votes, respectively. It was the closest race with Burkholder only getting eight more votes than Ortiz.

And finally, in the 7th Ward, voters selected Mhisho Lynch with 235 votes and Scott Ryder with 176.

Turnout for the primary totalled 4,048 of more than 70,000 registered voters, or 5.7%.

The general election will be held on November 7th.

Officially, Michelle's title for 28 years was WVIK News Editor. She did everything there is to do in the newsroom and whatever was needed around the radio station. She also served as Acting News Director from September 2023 - January 2024.
